iZotope Introduces FXEQ Plug-In for Sculpting Audio With Various Effects

iZotope, a leading name in the audio industry, has recently released a new addition to their Catalyst Series: FXEQ. This innovative plug-in offers a unique approach to applying and manipulating effects, making it an essential tool for producers and audio engineers alike.

A Unique "Painting" Approach to Sound Design

Unlike traditional plug-ins, FXEQ allows users to sculpt sounds with surgical precision by "painting" effects directly onto frequency bands within a large, colorful EQ interface. This approach eliminates the complexity of traditional routing or parallel chains, enabling users to target specific frequency ranges with five independent effect modules: Saturate, Reverb, Delay, Modulate, and Lo-Fi.

Each effect can be applied selectively to chosen frequency bands, with color-coding visually indicating which effects impact which parts of the spectrum. For instance, a user can add reverb only to the high frequencies of a vocal or saturate a midrange drum pocket without affecting the rest of the sound.

Enhanced Creative Flexibility and Streamlined Workflow

The intuitive interface of FXEQ combines the familiar six-band EQ format with multiple filter shapes and effect modes for each module. This enhancement provides users with increased creative flexibility and streamlines their workflow.

Each effect in FXEQ comes equipped with its own six-band EQ and four filter shapes. The Saturate effect, for example, offers eight saturation modes, while the Delay effect provides four different delay types. The Modulate effect offers a choice of chorus, flanger, phaser, and doubler modes, and the Lo-Fi effect provides vintage vibes through four different styles.

A Limited-Time Crossgrade Offer

From August 19, 2022, to August 19, 2025, there's a limited-time offer for a Crossgrade of FXEQ or any other Catalyst Series plug-in for just $39. This offer applies to any plug-in in the Catalyst Series, including FXEQ, Velvet, Aurora, Cascadia, and Plasma. However, it's important to note that this offer is not repeated for individual plug-ins in the Catalyst Series.

Key Features of FXEQ

  • Unique "painting" approach to applying and manipulating effects
  • Six-band graphical equalizer display for precise frequency targeting
  • Five independent effect modules: Saturate, Reverb, Delay, Modulate, and Lo-Fi
  • Color-coding to visually indicate which effects impact which parts of the spectrum
  • Zero-latency limiter to prevent clipping
  • Four delay types and eight saturation modes for the Delay and Saturate effects, respectively
  • Four different Lo-Fi styles and three different Reverb types

In summary, FXEQ's innovation lies in its ability to let users "paint" multiple creative effects directly onto frequency bands within a large, colorful EQ interface, providing detailed control over sound design in a visually engaging and musical way. This plug-in is a game-changer for producers and audio engineers seeking a more intuitive and flexible approach to sound design.
