The Dutch electric vehicle (EV) market continued its growth trajectory in November 2023, with a 34% year-on-year increase in total registrations. Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 10,000 units and 34% of the Netherlands' new-car market, a significant leap from previous months.

Top-Selling Models
The Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 were among Volkswagen’s best-selling fully electric models in the Dutch market. Volkswagen was the best-selling passenger car brand overall in the Netherlands, with these EVs driving much of their sales volume. The Tesla Model 3, on the other hand, was the top-selling all-electric car model in the Netherlands, indicating its strong sales position.
Tesla took the top two spots in the Netherlands' EV market in November, with the Model Y in first and the Model 3 in second. The Kia EV9, in only its second month on the market, registered 116 units, promising a strong future for the model.
Brand Ranking
In the brand ranking, Tesla continued to lead the way. Fourth-place Tesla gained ground on Hyundai Motor Company, while Stellantis, BMW Group, and Volkswagen Group followed in that order. Peugeot and Geely-Volvo showed a slight decline, with Peugeot continuing to suffer from delays in the launch of its refreshed EVs.
BMW and Volvo are neck and neck in the race for second place in the Netherlands' EV market. BMW's i4 and iX1 rose one position each, while Volvo's S/V60 PHEVs recorded a new best in over three years with 253 registrations.
The MG4 ended the month in fifth place in the Netherlands' EV market, followed by the Peugeot e-208 in fourth. The Opel Corsa EV ended November in 14th place. The Skoda Enyaq confirmed its popularity and its best-seller status within the VW Group.
In summary, the Volkswagen ID.3, Volkswagen ID.4, and Tesla Model 3 were the leading electric vehicles by sales in the Netherlands around November 2023. The Tesla Model Y maintained its lead in the Netherlands' EV market with almost double the registrations of the runner-up. As the Dutch EV market continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how these trends evolve in the coming months.
