The partnership combines Western Union's 175 years of international remittance experience with Chipper Cash and Zoona's local fintech expertise. This synergy allows customers in Zambia to send and receive money worldwide through Western Union’s network spanning over 200 countries and territories, integrated seamlessly into the Chipper Cash app experience.
Zoona Transactions, which was acquired by Chipper Cash in 2022, provides a local fintech infrastructure supporting millions of customers in Zambia. On the other hand, Western Union offers its global cross-border money transfer capabilities. By integrating these services, Chipper Cash users in Zambia gain easy and reliable access to global money transfers without leaving their app, connecting local users to the global economy effortlessly.
Users can top up their Chipper Cash wallets at retailers, mobile network operators, banks, and ATMs. Funds stored in the Chipper Cash app can be used to initiate Western Union transfers from smartphones (Android or iOS).
