On Wednesday, September 17, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75. The day was marked by a flurry of birthday greetings from world leaders and dignitaries.

In a phone call, US President Donald Trump extended his birthday wishes to Prime Minister Modi. This conversation came as US Assistant Trade Representative Brendan Lynch held talks in Delhi with India's chief trade negotiator Rajesh Agrawal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also joined in the celebrations, phoning Prime Minister Modi and sending a message on his birthday. Putin expressed satisfaction with the current successful development of the special privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India.

The 14th Dalai Lama, in a letter dated September 17, 2025, congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his birthday. Although there is no specific information about congratulations in 2022 before Modi's birthday became known, the Dalai Lama is confirmed to have sent birthday wishes on this date.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates acknowledged India's contributions to global development. Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised the strong friendship between Australia and India.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen extended greetings and noted the launch of the new EU-India strategy. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also praised Modi's role in strengthening ties with Sri Lanka.

The UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, posted birthday greetings to Prime Minister Modi in three languages. Priti Patel, former UK Home Secretary, also sent birthday greetings.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video message calling Modi a "good friend". Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni sent her wishes and posted a picture of the two leaders, expressing admiration for Modi's strength, determination, and leadership.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, Guyana President Irfaan Ali, Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, and Maldives former foreign minister Abdulla Shahid also sent birthday greetings to Prime Minister Modi.

Both sides described the discussions between the US and India as "positive and forward-looking," and said they would intensify efforts to conclude a mutually beneficial trade agreement. Rishi Sunak, former UK Prime Minister, called Modi a good friend and expressed gratitude for the strong UK-India ties.

As Prime Minister Modi celebrates his 75th birthday, it is clear that his leadership continues to resonate with leaders across the globe.
