Hospital Successfully Cuts Annual Energy Expenses by $83,760, Enhancing Facility Comfort, Sustainability, and Community Responsibility.
In a commendable effort towards environmental health and sustainability, SAH, a healthcare facility, has partnered with Cimetrics and its building automation system provider to embark on an ambitious journey of energy conservation and operational efficiency.
Located within a sprawling 241,000 square feet, SAH's infrastructure is intricate, with over 4,000 physical points. Cimetrics' task was to connect to and collect data from these points, paving the way for a comprehensive analysis.
The Analytika software, Cimetrics' flagship product, was deployed to identify opportunities, determine root causes, and calculate annual savings impacts. Over 1,000 Analytika software algorithms analysed the data, meticulously scouring for potential energy reduction, environmental improvement, maintenance optimization, and regulatory cost reduction opportunities.
SAH's participation in the Healthier Hospitals Initiative (HHI), a national campaign, aligns with their commitment to engage leadership, adopt leaner energy, and minimise waste within the healthcare sector. The facility's specific needs were considered in the implementation of these measures and technologies.
The monitoring scope was extensive, encompassing 6 Air Handling Units, 2 Hot Water Pumps, 2 Chilled Water Pumps, 19 Fan Coil Units, 24 Fume Hoods, 325 Terminal Units, and various miscellaneous equipment.
Cimetrics' intervention has yielded significant improvements in energy efficiency and operational performance. Typical outcomes from such projects in healthcare settings include energy savings of 15-30% through system optimization and continuous commissioning, improved indoor air quality and occupant comfort by fine-tuning HVAC controls, reduced maintenance costs by identifying system faults early, and enhanced data analytics and real-time monitoring enabling proactive energy management.
While detailed performance metrics or evaluation reports specific to SAH facility may not be available, interested parties are encouraged to reach out directly to Cimetrics or SAH facility management for detailed case documentation.
Throughout the project, Cimetrics engineers continued to engage with the client team on a regular basis, answering questions, coordinating implementation, and providing regular feedback on progress. Actionable recommendations were documented and provided to the client through both online and offline channels.
SAH's goal is to achieve these objectives while maintaining a high level of air quality and patient comfort, a testament to their commitment to both sustainability and patient care. On January 4, 2016, SAH set a goal to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, a step towards a greener and more sustainable future.
The Healthier Hospitals Initiative, with its challenges related to engaging leadership, leaner energy, and less waste, serves as a catalyst for change in the healthcare sector. SAH's collaboration with Cimetrics is a shining example of how such initiatives can lead to tangible improvements in environmental health and sustainability.
