Horizon Robotics Unveils Journey 5 Series, Powering GAC's GS4 PLUS SUV
Horizon Robotics, a Chinese AI chipmaker, is set to launch its Journey 5 series in 2021, boasting up to 128 TOPS of AI computing power. Meanwhile, GAC's GS4 PLUS SUV, equipped with Horizon's Journey 2 chip, is gaining attention for its advanced features.
Founded in 2015, Horizon Robotics has swiftly grown, attracting investors like Intel Capital and partnering with automakers such as Li Auto and BYD. The company's Journey series chips are now in 10 models, with the GS4 PLUS being the seventh.
The GS4 PLUS, priced between RMB 126,800 and RMB 149,800, offers fatigue alert and active human-machine interaction features. These are made possible by the Journey 2 chip, China's first indigenous automotive-grade AI chip, released in 2019. It provides over 4 TOPS of computing power while consuming just 2W of power. The chip enables over-the-air upgrades for the GS4 PLUS's intelligent cockpit.
Looking ahead, Horizon Robotics plans to ship 1 million automotive AI chips in 2021. The Journey 6 chip, scheduled for 2023, will meet the highest automotive safety standard (ASIL-D) with over 400 TOPS of computing power, using a 7nm process.
Horizon Robotics' Journey chip series is making waves in the automotive industry, with the GS4 PLUS SUV showcasing its capabilities. As the company gears up to launch the Journey 5 series and plans to ship 1 million chips this year, the future looks promising for Horizon Robotics and its partners.
