Honda's New Passport SUV Proves Toughness in 30m Crane Test
Honda has put the new Passport SUV through a rigorous test, suspending three of them from a crane 30 meters in the air. The demonstration showcased the vehicle's robust design and safety features.
The Passport, sharing underpinnings with the Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup, proved its toughness with a 3.5-litre V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. Each recovery point on the highest Passport held more than 6300kg during the test, demonstrating a 'closed loop recovery system' for safety. This is a first for Honda's 'light truck' models, featuring exposed and easily accessible heavy-duty frontier recovery points. The Passport has also been reinforced for off-road use, with front lateral rigidity increased by 72 percent and rear torsion rigidity by 50 percent.
Honda's Passport SUV has shown impressive strength and safety features in recent tests. With reinforced design and robust frontier points, it's ready for off-road adventures and challenging conditions.
