The Ultimate Guide to Cranking Up Esports Arenas in 2025

Fancy a stroll through the futuristic, thrill-sparking world of competitive gaming? Look no further than the Esports Arena at Cass High School in the thick of Georgia's Appalachian foothills. This bad boy clocks in at 7,000 square feet, boasts room for 500 eager spectators, and is the proud owner of top-notch gaming rigs, jaw-dropping AV features, and a booming sound system that'll make your eardrums dance.

But it ain't just about the games. students at Cass High School are getting an education like nothing else, diving deep into game development, sports commentary, lighting, sound design, and more. So how does this high-octane Arena go from a classroom to a, well, Arena? BY Slinky, son! How else?

Enter Extron, the mavericks behind the project, whipping up an audiovisual (AV) extravaganza. "Extron's team of renegades went above and beyond to ensure this project's success," said Dalton Jones, the director of esports at PowerUpEDU, the education solutions company responsible for the project's tech side. "Their AV system résumé makes them the Michaels Jordan of esports arenas."

Extron's NAV Pro AV over IP network powers the Arena, beaming 4K video with HD-quality and near-zero latency to every screen – even our buddy, the mammoth 220-inch LED wall above the stage. High-end rigs and tracking PTZ cameras feed AV content into the network via compact NAV encoders. The content then voyages to various screens via NAV decoders, including the giant videowall and an Extron streaming media processor streaming the action to the school's esports YouTube channel.

Things don't stop there. The Arena sports a DMP 128 Plus audio DSP processor, which plugs away filtering audio and canceling echoes. TouchLink Pro touchpanels with custom, user-friendly interfaces serve as the Arena's control center, operating via an IPCP Pro xi control processor and a NAVigator System Manager.
