TEAC Introduces the PD-507T CD Transport for Premium Hi-Fi Audio

The Japanese hi-fi brand TEAC has announced the introduction of a new CD transport, the PD-507T, to its Reference 500 series. Scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2025, the PD-507T is priced at £1299 / $1700 / €1299.

The PD-507T is designed for uncompromising reference-grade CD playback, featuring TEAC's proprietary CD-transport mechanism. This mechanism, which has been used successfully in broadcast applications, is the main advantage of the PD-507T's transport mechanism. Its rugged and reliable nature ensures daily use and longevity, particularly important for the all-important CD mechanism.

The PD-507T boasts an amber-coloured OLED display and offers two digital outputs: one coaxial and one optical. Each clock and digital output has a separate power supply, ensuring a purer audio signal. For those seeking even more accurate clock signals, an optional external 10MHz master clock generator (such as the CG-10M-X) can be added.

The PD-507T supports audio CD, CD-R, and CD-RW formats and focuses on the CD mechanism and CD playback aspect. To convert digital files into analogue signals, a separate DAC like the UD-507 DAC is required. The PD-507T joins the UD-507 DAC/preamplifier, the AP-507 power amplifier, and the HA-507 headphone amp in the line-up of premium hi-fi separate electronics.

TEAC has fine-tuned both the electrical circuit and the mechanical construction of the PD-507T to deliver better sound quality than previous models. The unit employs custom parts and a specially designed drive circuit to deliver a more refined sound. The PD-507T is available in silver and black finishes and comes with on-unit playback controls, a physical power toggle switch, and a remote control handset.

TEAC's five-star VRDS-701 CD player, which uses the more premium VRDS transport mechanism, has received praise for its superb results. The PD-507T, while not as high-end as the VRDS-701, promises to deliver a high-quality CD playback experience for audiophiles.

The PD-507T is compatible with the brand's matching UD-507 DAC, priced at approximately $2099 / £1583. This pairing offers a complete solution for those seeking a premium hi-fi system. With its focus on CD playback and the availability of a high-quality DAC, the PD-507T is an exciting addition to TEAC's Reference 500 series.
