Herford District Leads Cycling Safety with Comprehensive Inspection
Uwe Nolte from the Road Traffic Office led a comprehensive bicycle traffic inspection in Rödinghausen on September 12, 2025. The sixth such event in the Herford district in recent months, it covered 40 kilometers of roads and bicycle paths, assessing traffic signs, road conditions, and more.
The inspection, led by Uwe Nolte, focused on various aspects of bicycle traffic safety. It reviewed traffic signs, road conditions, markings, height differences, and field of vision restrictions. Bollard locations were also scrutinized to ensure they met state guidelines.
The tour began in Rödinghausen town center and passed through Bruchmühlen, Ostkilver, Schwenningdorf, and Bieren. Representatives from the Road Traffic Office, police, State Office for Road Construction NRW, and Rödinghausen municipality all participated.
The Herford district's commitment to cycling safety has been recognized. It has been admitted to the 'Working Group of pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly cities, municipalities, and districts in North Rhine-Westphalia e. V.' due to its bicycle-friendly conditions. The district also offers cycling safety training for pedelec and e-bike users and provides bicycle route information via its geoportal.
