Google's Page Experience Update Now Live on Desktop

Google has started rolling out its page experience update for desktop. This update, announced in 2025, is expected to be completed by August 2025. It will use the same Core Web Vitals metrics as the mobile update, focusing on Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).

The desktop update will also consider HTTPS compliance and other existing page experience signals. Sites with separate desktop and mobile URLs should ensure the desktop signal is based on the URLs seen by desktop users. Google's PageSpeed Insights tool can help check a site's performance and readiness for the update.

While some sites have experienced web traffic volatility, it's not confirmed if this is due to the page experience update. A new core update from Google is suspected to be the cause of recent fluctuations. Our website offers expertise in optimizing sites for Google's page experience signals and can help improve performance.

Mobile-friendliness will not be a ranking factor for desktop in the page experience update. The rollout is expected to take several weeks to complete. Site owners should ensure their desktop sites meet the new page experience standards to maintain and improve their search rankings.
