GM Appoints Tesla Veteran Jens Peter Clausen as New Head of Manufacturing and Sustainability
General Motors (GM) has appointed Jens Peter Clausen as its new head of global manufacturing and sustainability. Clausen, who previously worked for Google and Tesla, replaces long-time employee Gerald Johnson, who is retiring after 44 years at the automaker.
Clausen brings a wealth of experience to GM. He previously served as a vice president of engineering at Google, where he focused on product development and process optimization for data centers. Prior to this, Clausen led efforts to scale electric vehicle propulsion system production at Tesla's Gigafactory 1. GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra expects Clausen's expertise to drive the delivery of high-quality vehicles and contribute to the company's future.
Jens Peter Clausen takes over from Gerald Johnson, who is retiring after a lengthy career at GM. With his background in tech and electric vehicle production, Clausen is expected to bring fresh insights to GM's manufacturing and sustainability efforts.
