Global collaboration between World Mobile and Protelindo improves worldwide network connectivity through stratospheric linkage.
World Mobile and Protelindo Partner to Revolutionize Global Connectivity
World Mobile, a blockchain-based decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) provider, has joined forces with Protelindo, Indonesia's largest independent digital infrastructure provider, to launch the World Mobile Stratospheric platform. This groundbreaking partnership promises to democratize global connectivity, offering a cost-effective, scalable, and environmentally-friendly solution.
The World Mobile Stratospheric platform leverages hydrogen-powered drones flying at 60,000 feet to provide 5G wireless coverage over up to 15,000 square kilometers per drone. This innovative technology delivers connectivity 18 times cheaper per gigabyte than satellite systems, with a remarkably low latency of about 6 milliseconds.
The use of multiple directed beams and AI-driven beam-forming allows high-throughput data transmission, supporting dense urban areas and wide rural coverage with precision and scale. The direct line-of-sight from the stratosphere and the closer proximity compared to satellites result in very low latency, enabling improved performance for real-time applications.
World Mobile Stratospheric's green hydrogen-powered drones aim to reduce carbon emissions associated with telecom infrastructure. The initiative also avoids the need to build numerous ground towers, reducing physical infrastructure footprint and materials usage. However, large 56-meter drones must maintain long endurance flights (9 days), and broad regulatory approvals are needed to ensure environmental and airspace safety compliance.
The partnership demonstrates how blockchain can unlock new models for global connectivity. Micky Watkins, CEO of World Mobile, stated, "The partnership with Protelindo shows how blockchain can be used to create new models for global connectivity." Protelindo expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that World Mobile's approach makes them the perfect partner to bring World Mobile Stratospheric's technology to the market.
This technology positions itself as a cost-effective, scalable, and environmentally considerate alternative to both ground-based towers and satellite constellations for global connectivity expansion. It enables rapid deployment and network scaling in rural, maritime, mining, island, and emergency contexts where traditional towers are impractical.
