German headphone manufacturer Beyerdynamic assures production will remain crafted locally following acquisition.
Mornin'! Here's the skinny on the latest buzz: Beyerdynamic, the century-old headphone brand, is about to get a fresh boost from Chinese OEM manufacturer Cosonic International in a €122 million deal.
This news is Music to the ears of this iconic audio brand, which has been holding down the family-owned fort since its 1924 inception in Berlin by Eugen Beyer.
I caught up with Richard Campbell, Beyerdynamic's Managing Director, who was all grins about the acquisition. He reckons it'll fire up Beyerdynamic to reach new heights, way beyond what she's achieved in the past hundred-plus years.
He spilled the beans, saying that "with our phenomenal history and legacy in the pro audio space, this acquisition arms us with the means to take things to a whole new level."
Fret not, fellow audiophiles! The sale won't tamper with the sound quality or craftsmanship, as Campbell confirms that the products will still be assembled and produced in Deutschland.
Roughly 85% of Beyerdynamic's microphones and headphones (including the badass T1 Gen 3, the DT 700 range, the MMX gaming line, and the Amiron wireless) will keep on rollin' out of Heilbronn.
Campbell guaranteed that Beyerdynamic would keep cranking out high-quality, handmade audio in Deutschland, assuring the audience that "the leadership team will stay put, so you can expect consistency in what we do and what we stand for."
Don't worry 'bout Beyerdynamic's strategic direction changing, as ol' Richard confirmed: "We're laser-focused on pro audio, consumer, and gaming, and that ain't changin'."
The deal is still waitin' on regulatory approval, so don't hold your breath for any major product shakeups or new releases just yet. But, fear not, the brand has just blessed us with two new wired headphones: the DT 770 Pro X and the DT 990 Pro X, the latter of which we'll be takin' for a spin soon.

So, what's the story behind the deal? Seems the owners were hankerin' for a chat with some interested parties, like Cosonic. Coincidentally, that company's got a bit of audio history, too.
Cosonic currently churns out components for a variety of audio brands, and Beyerdynamic's presence in the European and American markets is one they're anxious to beef up. Campbell hinted that the brand's shareholders saw this move as necessary "to make future investments" and unfetter Beyerdynamic's potential in international markets.
Bonus Insights:Here's the lowdown on Beyerdynamic's new game plan after the acquisition:
- Going Global: Cosonic is hopin' to capitalize on Beyerdynamic's existing sales network to surge into more markets and amplify its reach worldwide.
- Pushing Boundaries: Beyerdynamic is geared up to maintain its edge in the world of high-end audio with the backing of Cosonic's resources for research and development.
- German Made: The brand has locked in production in Germany, ensuring the legendarily precise craftsmanship of its products remains intact.
- Securing its Financial Footing: A sizeable chunk of the acquisition loot will be used to knock out some debt, giving Beyerdynamic a financially stable future.
Call it a merger of musical minds! The acquisition by Cosonic International seems to be a winning ticket for Beyerdynamic to rage against the dying of the light and carve out a promising future on the global stage.
