Futuristic World-Time Display by SpaceOne Features Rotating Disc Showcasing City Names

The French microbrand SpaceOne has unveiled its latest venture, the SpaceOne WorldTimer, a watch that offers a unique blend of design and functionality, setting it apart from traditional GMT or worldtimer watches.

### Design

The SpaceOne WorldTimer boasts a striking appearance, with its case crafted from lightweight grade 5 titanium, available in natural, black PVD, or blue PVD finishes. Measuring a substantial 52.7mm in diameter, the watch features a lug-to-lug length of 41.9mm and a thickness of 15.88mm. Despite its large diameter, the curved case architecture allows for wearable comfort. The watch's case surfaces combine polished, brushed, and sandblasted finishes, enhancing its futuristic appeal. Twin sapphire domes protect the displays, and the watch is water-resistant to 30m. It is paired with a black rubber or textile strap with a titanium buckle.

The assembly of the SpaceOne WorldTimer takes place in Paris, France, and the piece is produced as a limited edition.

### Functionality

At its heart, the SpaceOne WorldTimer utilizes a Soprod P024 automatic base movement, but the actual worldtimer complication is driven by a proprietary in-house module developed and assembled by Auffret in Paris. This module enables the watch to display world times in a novel way.

Instead of a conventional GMT hand or a fixed city ring found on traditional worldtimer watches, the WorldTimer puts the city names on a rotating display, creating a dynamic and intuitive way to read multiple time zones simultaneously. This design makes tracking global time zones more accessible and visually engaging.

The watch maintains a power reserve of around 38 hours.

### Differences from Traditional GMT and Worldtimer Watches

The SpaceOne WorldTimer breaks the mold with a futuristic, large titanium case and an innovative rotating city-name display that redefines how world time is presented. Its in-house developed module offers a more accessible and visually engaging approach compared to traditional GMT or worldtimer watches that use fixed city rings or additional hour hands.

The SpaceOne WorldTimer will be available for pre-order starting June 26 at 4:00 PM Paris time exclusively through the brand's website. The first batch of 600 pieces is scheduled for delivery before the end of 2025. The edition breaks down to 300 pieces in natural titanium, 200 in blue PVD, and 100 in black PVD.

The SpaceOne WorldTimer is a testament to SpaceOne's commitment to innovation and design, offering a unique and practical watch for frequent travellers or those in global communication industries. Its unorthodox yet practical design, coupled with its affordable price point, makes it an attractive addition to any watch collection.

In the realm of watchmaking, the SpaceOne WorldTimer, with its sleek design and advanced technology, sets itself apart from traditional GMT or worldtimer watches. Instead of relying on a conventional GMT hand or a fixed city ring, this automotive-inspired timepiece features a rotating city-name display, showcasing a fresh approach to presenting world times within the style and function of this unique piece.
