In the realm of electronic music production, glitchy textures have become a staple for creating unique and evolving sounds. These abstract, fuzzy, and glitchy textures are meticulously crafted by heavily processing simple sound sources, and a popular tool for this task is iZotope's RX9 software.

The latest collection of glitchy texture samples, available on the SampleRadar hub, offers a broad palette of sounds suitable for IDM, glitch, and experimental electronic music. These samples are supplied in a zip file, weighing approximately 233MB.

The creation process involves starting from simple recordings or noise. iZotope RX9’s noise reduction tools are then applied in reverse, outputting noise instead of cleaned audio, to isolate transient glitches like clicks and crackles. These glitch elements are then processed with multiple chained effects—reverb, delay, modulation, distortion, bitcrushing, and sample rate reduction—to transform and abstract the sound. Sustained tones are stripped away, and transient, textural elements are emphasized. The processed sounds are then pitch shifted, reversed, sliced, and layered to create loops and complex glitchy textures.

These methods produce a diverse range of sounds, from reverbed-out slabs to dry, visceral crackles and clicks. The total number of samples available for download, including the newly released ones, exceeds 90,000. It's important to note that while these sounds are royalty-free and can be used in any way in your music, they should not be redistributed.

In addition to iZotope RX9, other tools like Trash 2 can be used for creating industrial-style textured distortions, which complement glitch aesthetics by adding grit and complexity to sounds through flexible distortion and filtering stages.

The free sample pack consists of more than 200 glitchy textures for electronic productions. The four sets of loops (A-D) are derived from different processing chain setups, with C and D using some of the A and B loops as sources, pitching, reversing, and mangling them before heavily wrangling them into a new form.

To access these samples, simply download and extract the zip file. Dive into the world of glitchy textures and elevate your electronic music productions today!
