Football team, the Cowboys, trade their star pass rusher, Micah Parsons, to the Green Bay Packers in a surprising deal.

In a shocking turn of events, the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to trade star pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. The trade, which was completed one week before the start of the NFL season, marks a significant shakeup in both teams' rosters.

The Packers have wasted no time in securing Parsons' services, offering him a four-year, $188 million contract extension. This deal makes him the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback. Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, negotiated the contract extension.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, will receive a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and Pro Bowl DT Kenny Clark in return for Parsons. The guarantee on Parsons' contract extension amounts to $136 million, with the entirety of his contract extension being fully guaranteed.

The trade comes after four weeks of Parsons expressing his desire for a trade from the Cowboys. Tension between Parsons and the Cowboys ownership seemed to escalate, with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones claiming that his agent, David Mulugheta, requested a renegotiation after Jones had already moved off his initial marks.

Jones had previously expressed optimism about resolving Parsons' contract before the season began, but a resolution was not reached. During a podcast hosted by Michael Irvin, Jones expressed frustration with Mulugheta trying to improve upon the already agreed terms.

Mike Tannenbaum, an ESPN analyst, weighed in on the situation, stating that it is rare to have a 26-year-old pass rusher in the prime of his career available in a trade. Tannenbaum also mentioned that the Cowboys may have hurt themselves by delaying the trade decision.

The Cowboys and the Packers will face off on September 28. This trade is undoubtedly one of the most significant moves of the off-season and is sure to have a significant impact on both teams' performances this season.
