Fibre optic services to be launched by Telekom in Ettlingen
In the heart of Germany, the city of Ettlingen is preparing for a significant digital transformation. The expansion of fiber optic networks in the city center is scheduled to begin in late September 2025, marking a significant step towards a more connected future for its 9,500 households and businesses.
Mayor Johannes Arnold has expressed his delight about the commencement of this work, emphasising that high-speed internet is a vital part of citizens' lives, both privately and professionally. The new fiber optic network will enable higher speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second, a substantial improvement over the existing infrastructure.
The expansion project will be divided into multiple construction phases to minimise disruption for residents. A total of 49 new network nodes will be installed as part of the expansion, with over 244 kilometres of fiber optic cables to be laid during the process.
The modern network ensures long-term quality of life and economic development in Ettlingen, according to Mayor Arnold. He also stated that a fiber optic connection increases the value of a property, making it an attractive investment for homeowners and businesses alike.
The city of Ettlingen and Deutsche Telekom plan to collaborate closely during the fiber optic network expansion. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028, providing the city with a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure to support its growth and development well into the future.
While details about the specific individuals responsible for the project and the cooperating companies are yet to be announced, the prospect of faster internet speeds and improved connectivity in Ettlingen is generating excitement among its citizens and businesses. The expansion is set to redefine the digital landscape of the city, paving the way for a more connected and prosperous future.
