In the realm of electronic darkwave and industrial music, Fermion's latest album, "Conflicted", stands out as a contemporary evolution. Hailing from New York, the duo of Eric Shans and Augustine Backer have crafted a sonic masterpiece that blends synthwave, darkwave, industrial, and EBM genres, creating a unique and captivating sound.

The album thematically explores contrasts between emotional states and sonic textures, continuing Fermion's evolution from earlier works like "We Are Nowhere" and "Elegaic". Key tracks such as “Unity With Chaos” and “Impetus” exemplify the album’s trademark sound, mixing aggressive industrial beats with more melodic and atmospheric elements.

Comparatively, Fermion's "Conflicted" occupies a similar industrial/EBM/dark electronic niche to acts like Front Line Assembly, :Wumpscut:, and Noise Unit. However, Fermion's work is marked by a distinct hybrid approach and an emphasis on synthwave influences. Front Line Assembly and Noise Unit are longtime fixtures in the industry with often complex layered electronics and politically charged or dystopian themes. :Wumpscut: is known for harsher, darker electro-industrial sounds and provocative atmospheres. Fermion's work, by contrast, leans into blending melodic and emotional contrasts within this framework, making "Conflicted" a synthesis of danceable EBM, darkwave moodiness, and synthwave aesthetics.

Released on July 25, 2025, via Re:Mission Entertainment, "Conflicted" is available as a limited edition CD and digitally. The album was mixed, produced, and mastered by Justin Singer at 10×13 Studio in Media, Pennsylvania. Promotion has involved a video release for the single “Unity With Chaos” and digital availability on platforms like Bandcamp and YouTube.
