Experience issues with Sky Q? Overnight outage causes box malfunction, leaving some in standby mode.

Look ma, no more blank screens for Sky Q folks! An unexpected glitch caused buncha Sky Q boxes to go kaput across the nation and sit pretty in standby mode. But fear not, the Sky Help Team sprang into action and fixed the issue quicker than blurred motion on an old TV.

On May 16, 2025, the Sky Help Team took to Twitter with an announcement: "Hey there, we've got some tech troubles to tackle. Overnight, some Sky Q boxes went into standby mode. Fear not, our tech whizzes jumped into action and got everything back on track. If your Sky Q box still stubbornly refuses to budge, switch it off at the power socket for 30 seconds and then give it another whirl. It’ll be back to life soon!"

Your humble servant was amongst the millions on the sidelines during this intermission. And let me tell ya, the fix certainly worked its magic!

Sky Q is Sky's satellite service, but it's no match for the digital age. Meet Sky Stream and Sky Glass, Sky's ways to stream shows to ya not through the air but through the internet. The former demands a shiny new TV, while the latter is a gadget you can plug into your existing boob tube.

Recently, Sky introduced the upgraded Sky Glass Gen 2 with improved screen technology. But it looks like we'll soon be dancing with Sky Glass Air, a more budget-friendly model, which sounds suspiciously like the name of long-lost friends or perhaps slight alterations of branding past!
