Tesla Expands Presence in India with Showrooms and Supercharger Stations

Tesla, the American electric vehicle manufacturer, is actively expanding its footprint in India, focusing on major metropolitan areas such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore. The company has already opened its second showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity and is rolling out supercharger stations in several locations within these cities.

At the opening event, Isabel Fan, Tesla Regional Director for South East Asia, announced that supercharging stations will be in Gurugram, Saket, and Noida in Delhi-NCR, alongside the existing Aerocity location. Mumbai's supercharging network includes the Bandra Kurla Complex, with planned expansions in Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. Bangalore, announced as Tesla’s third city in India, will initially have a supercharger station and service centre, with an experience centre planned, though specific timelines and exact locations are yet to be disclosed.

In addition to charging infrastructure, Tesla is preparing to launch mobile service, remote diagnostics, a dedicated service centre, and a Tesla Approved Collision Centre to support customers. The company is prioritizing a phased approach without making long-term promises it cannot guarantee but aims for steady growth with a focus on premium urban markets.

Currently, Tesla's sales in India are limited to the Model Y SUV, priced starting around ₹59.89 lakh, with plans to expand the model lineup as demand grows. Though there were earlier talks and high-level discussions about a Tesla Gigafactory in India, those plans appear to be on hold or unlikely in the near term. For now, Tesla’s India expansion centers on sales, showrooms, and charging infrastructure rather than local manufacturing.

Isabel Fan mentioned that Bangalore will be a new market for Tesla in the near future. In the next few weeks, Tesla will open its supercharging station in Gurugram. The company also plans to establish supercharging stations in Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, in addition to the existing one at Bandra Kurla Complex.

It's important to note that the expansion of Tesla in India is not limited to a five-year plan. The news article is syndicated and has not been edited by the website staff. This development marks a significant step forward for electric vehicles in India and underscores Tesla's commitment to the Indian market.
