SpaceX has announced a unique offer for residential subscribers in the United States: a free Starlink Kit. However, it's important to note that this promotion is not available nationwide but rather in select states.

To qualify, subscribers must commit to a 12-month service agreement at an eligible residential address, maintain the service in good standing without changing the service address or canceling within the commitment period, and pay applicable taxes on the kit. The promotion, which started at the end of April 2025, offers the $349 Starlink Kit free in exchange for the 12-month service commitment.

Interested users are advised to check availability by entering their address on Starlink’s website. It's crucial to note that many urban and high-demand areas remain on a waitlist or require a congestion surcharge to begin service.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk acknowledged the promotion on social media, stating that the company is trying out a service plan commitment in exchange for $0 down in some markets.

The hardware kit includes an antenna, Wi-Fi router, mounting base, and necessary cabling. The residential plan, typically priced at US$120 per month, is part of the agreement.

Please be aware that there are fees that effectively negate the free kit if users change service address, cancel early, or fail to pay bills on time. Additionally, customers who cancel early, relocate their service, or attempt to resell the equipment may be charged the full cost of the kit.

The offer does not include the purchase of a Tesla, but a separate referral link provided is for purchasing Full Self-Driving (FSD) for Tesla vehicles.

It's essential to understand that this offer is a trial, and its success will be evaluated. So, if you're living in an eligible area and interested in high-speed internet from SpaceX, this could be an opportunity worth considering.

This promotion, initiated by SpaceX, provides a free Starlink Kit to residential subscribers in select states who commit to a 12-month service agreement. Aside from the free kit, subscribers also gain access to the residential plan, typically priced at $120 per month. On the other hand, SpaceX's foray into the space-and-astronomy field, the Starlink project, also incorporates technology, as demonstrated by the high-speed internet service offered via the Starlink satellites and ground equipment.
