Expanded Infrasonic Subwoofers from ASCENDO: Introducing 64-inch and 100-inch Models

ASCENDO Immersive Audio GmbH has announced the launch of two new subwoofers, the THE64 SUB PRO and the THE100 SUB PRO Passive Infrasonic Sealed models. These subwoofers are set to redefine ultra-low-frequency reproduction, offering significant improvements over their predecessor, the THE50 SUB PRO model.

The key performance improvements of the new subwoofers include larger driver sizes (64-inch and 100-inch diameters), which enable them to deliver more powerful and deeper infrasonic bass response than the previous 50-inch model. This increase in driver area directly contributes to significantly improved low-frequency extension and output capability.

In terms of cabinet design, the new subwoofers continue the sealed enclosure design characteristic of infrasonic subs but are refined to accommodate the much larger drivers and to optimize the structural integrity required for such large radiating surfaces. This ensures tight, accurate bass reproduction without resonance or unwanted cabinet vibrations.

ASCENDO has also made improvements to the serviceability of these new subwoofers. While specific details are less explicitly described, the upgrade from the THE50 to THE64 and THE100 PRO models suggests enhancements in build quality and modular construction that facilitate easier maintenance and integration into immersive audio setups.

Notable enhancements in the new subwoofers include an optimized enclosure depth of 100 cm, which further extends the frequency response into the infrasonic region. An optimized, shallower compliance curve improves linear motion and control at infrasonic frequencies. Lowered driver resonance has been achieved, combined with optimized enclosure dimensions for even lower f3 points and deeper bass extension.

The upgraded suspension system of the new subwoofers includes quad spiders, repositioned and optimized, for increased excursion across the entire range. A new single-piece, custom-designed surround tooling supports greater and more linear excursion in the new subwoofers.

ASCENDO has also fine-tuned its multi-density internal damping materials to lower the system's resonance frequency. Significant reduction in Q has been achieved, leading to perfect impulse response with ultra-low group delay.

The new THE64 model replaces ASCENDO's THE50 SUB PRO Passive Infrasonic Sealed model, with the THE100 model replacing ASCENDO's THE80 SUB PRO Passive Infrasonic Sealed model.
