Schlosslichtspiele 2025 Celebrates 200 Years of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
The city of Karlsruhe, Germany, is set to host the 11th edition of the Schlosslichtspiele, a renowned summer light and media art festival. Running from August 14 to September 14, 2025, the event will take place at the majestic Karlsruhe Castle to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) under the theme "The Shining Lights of Science".
The festival promises a mesmerizing spectacle of media art, with immersive projection mapping artworks that depict the scientific achievements and research fields of KIT. These artworks will showcase the institute's groundbreaking discoveries and their impact on our physical and digital worlds.
Every evening, starting at dusk, the baroque façade of Karlsruhe Palace will come alive as a living canvas of media art. Visitors can expect a diverse fringe program featuring various music genres, including meditative jazz sounds and a special peace concert on Antikriegstag. Notable works include "Reflexion in Technik" by Ari Dykier and "λ (Waves of Matters)" by VPM.
The Schlosslichtspiele serves as a celebration of KIT's historic contributions and an invitation to envision future scientific horizons with creativity and wonder. The event draws a global audience and has attracted over two million visitors in recent years.
