EU Commission Awards Funding to Our Organization for Solar Technology Initiative
Sono Group N.V., a company dedicated to making every vehicle solar, has announced its involvement in the SEAMLESS-PV project, a European research and innovation initiative focused on unlocking the potential of Integrated Photovoltaic Systems (IPV). The goal of SEAMLESS-PV is to contribute to the sustainable energy transition by embedding renewable solar generation into diverse surfaces and infrastructures, such as buildings, vehicles, and agricultural landscapes.
Sono Group, with its 50 patents granted or filed, 42 of which are for its proprietary solar technology, is expected to play a significant role in the project. The company's innovative building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) technology, which combines solar panels with building materials like glass, creating multifunctional components that generate electricity while serving architectural functions, aligns perfectly with SEAMLESS-PV’s remit of embedding PV systems into buildings and other integrated surfaces.
The SEAMLESS-PV project aims to develop automated photovoltaic manufacturing equipment and demonstrate the technology's cost-efficiency and compliance with market requirements. Sono Group's funding of €1.46 million from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) will be used for the advancement of its proprietary solar technology within the SEAMLESS-PV project.
It's important to note that the statements made in this press release are forward-looking and readers should not place undue reliance on these statements. The funds will be strictly used only for SEAMLESS-PV project activities as agreed with the project partners and the European Commission and won't be used in any other activities.
Sono Group's mission is to extend range, reduce fuel costs, and lower CO2 emissions, paving the way for climate-friendly mobility. The company has already acquired 23 partners, including Scania, CHEREAU, Rhenus Logistics, Mitsubishi Europe, and Munich's public transport provider MVG, and its B2B solar business continues to generate revenue by integrating its proprietary solar technology into vehicles from other manufacturers.
The risks associated with the statements include the impact of COVID-19, limited operating history, unproven ability to develop and produce vehicles, risks related to monetizing solar technology, uncertain projected financial information, effects of competition, changes in regulatory requirements, and uncertainty of fuel and energy prices.
