Esquisse Unveils Compact, Craftsmanship-Focused Mirrorless Camera

A French startup, Esquisse, is set to launch the Esquisse Camera, a compact, interchangeable-lens mirrorless camera that aims to blend traditional craftsmanship with advanced imaging technology in a minimalist design.

The Esquisse Camera, smaller than a deck of cards at 105 x 70 x 35 mm and weighing 350g, is designed to fill the void left by pocketable mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic Lumix GM1. It features a 20MP Micro Four Thirds sensor with an ISO range of 200-25,600, offering a pure photographic experience without video capabilities.

The camera boasts a weather-sealed body, a 3.69 million-dot viewfinder, and a fixed 3-inch touchscreen. It includes dedicated dials for exposure compensation and ISO, along with a clickable rear wheel for aperture and shutter control. Despite its size, it packs USB-C, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity, but lacks a hotshoe.

The Esquisse Camera is expected to hit the market in Q4 2026, priced between $1,500-2,000 or £1,500-2,000. It promises to combine the best of traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge imaging technology in a compact, minimalist body, appealing to photographers seeking a pure, portable shooting experience.
