Electric workboats unveiled by Photon Marine and Silverback Marine with substantial funding via CARB CORE Voucher Program launching.
In a significant move towards cleaner off-road equipment, Photon Marine and Silverback Marine have announced the launch of electric workboats, approved for funding under California Air Resources Board (CARB)'s Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Program.
The approved configurations include the 18-foot SuperCub, designed for marina support, and the 24-foot Sherpa, suitable for tasks such as aquaculture, dredging, or utility work. Both models feature Photon's P300 electric outboard motor and can be equipped with one or two motors, depending on operational needs.
The SuperCub, designed for agile operations within marina environments, and the Sherpa, built for demanding tasks, are mission-built with Silverback's rugged aluminum hulls. These vessels offer quiet, low-maintenance performance with instant torque, and can be equipped with up to 126 kWh of battery storage, ensuring a robust power supply for various operations.
Photon Marine's zero-emission propulsion system delivers 300HP peak power, providing a powerful yet eco-friendly solution for workboats.
Organisations stand to benefit significantly from this initiative, with eligible vessels receiving up to $240,000 in vouchers per vessel, and additional funding for small businesses and disadvantaged communities. Applicants may also receive up to $100,000 for shoreside charging infrastructure, creating a total potential incentive of $400,000.
The CORE vouchers reduce upfront costs by up to 78%, making these electric workboats more accessible and affordable for a wide range of organisations.
The program is first-come, first-served, and Photon and Silverback are now booking consultations to help organisations secure funding ahead of the August launch. For more information or to schedule a consultation, contact Chad White at [email protected] or Alana Kambury at [email protected].
