ESWE Supply to Begin District Heating Works in Ellenbogengasse

Elbow Gas Project Still Under Development by ESWE Supply

The city of Wiesbaden is set to undergo an exciting transformation as ESWE Supply begins the installation and upgrade of district heating infrastructure in Ellenbogengasse. The work, which is scheduled to start in the coming weeks, is part of the city's commitment to sustainability and climate friendliness.

Schedule

The district heating works in Ellenbogengasse are planned to commence in the coming weeks, with the exact dates subject to the project phase. The construction period is expected to last several weeks to a few months, depending on the scope of the pipeline installation and connections. Work hours will typically be during daytime to minimize disturbance, though they may occasionally extend for urgent tasks.

Impact on Businesses

Temporary disruptions to access along Ellenbogengasse may occur due to trench digging, machinery, and material delivery. To mitigate this, ESWE Supply is coordinating closely with local businesses to ensure delivery and customer access. Alternative pedestrian routes and parking adjustments will be communicated in advance.

Noise and dust might affect nearby shops and offices, but ESWE Supply is taking measures such as dust covers and noise barriers to minimize these effects. Some businesses may experience reduced foot traffic during the construction period, but they will be supported with information updates and potential compensations if needed.

Sustainability Goals

The upgrading of district heating infrastructure supports decarbonization by increasing the system's efficiency and enabling greater use of renewable energy sources. The new pipes and equipment reduce heat loss, improving energy conservation, and contributing to the city's climate protection targets by lowering reliance on fossil fuels.

Integrating advanced technology promotes long-term sustainable heating solutions for the Ellenbogengasse district, while raising public awareness about environmentally responsible infrastructure investments.

ESWE Supply has already connected RMCC and other large customers to the environmentally friendly district heating network in recent years, and the work in Ellenbogengasse is a significant step towards expanding this network further. After the completion of the work, Ellenbogengasse will be renovated and seamlessly integrated into the city's paving.

The work in Ellenbogengasse includes the renewal of power, gas, and water lines, and ESWE Supply is resuming work on August 18 to renew these pipes, with completion expected by the end of October. The work in the "An den Quellen" area is being done separately, with different timelines and objectives.

The previous contract between the state capital Wiesbaden and the originally involved construction company has been terminated, allowing ESWE Supply to continue with the work. Wiesbaden's retail sector welcomes the new plans from ESWE Supply, and the city center will have more district heating due to these efforts.

In conclusion, the district heating works in Ellenbogengasse mark an important step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Wiesbaden. Businesses are being supported throughout the construction period, and the community is invited to learn more about the benefits of district heating and the city's commitment to climate protection.
