EG Group to Boost European EV Charging with Tesla's Ultra-Fast Units
EG Group is set to bolster its European electric vehicle (EV) charging network with the purchase of Tesla's ultra-fast charging units. The company aims to expand its network significantly, from over 600 current chargers to more than 20,000 in the future.
The first Tesla charging stations, part of an 'open network' accessible to all EV drivers, are being installed at the GLOBUS Markthalle in Limburg, Hesse, Germany. This site will feature 10 Tesla chargers alongside 16 EnBW fast chargers. Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla's senior director of charging infrastructure, supports this rapid expansion of reliable and easy-to-use EV charging infrastructure.
The first Tesla chargers are expected to be operational by the end of this year, though specific details on the total purchase cost and installation timeline were not disclosed.
EG Group's investment in Tesla's ultra-fast charging units signals a significant step towards expanding its EV charging network across Europe. This move will provide more charging options for EV drivers, contributing to the growth of electric vehicle adoption.
