DHL Group's Profits Soar Amidst Economic Weakness

In the midst of economic challenges faced by many businesses in the first half of 2025, the DHL Group has managed to maintain a significant role in the domestic market for sending letters and packages, and even saw a significant increase in profits.

The DHL Group's consolidated net profit increased by 7.9% year-over-year to EUR 1.602 billion, and EBIT rose by 5.1% to EUR 2.799 billion [1]. This resilient performance was supported by efficient cost management, pricing discipline, and ongoing digitalization and automation efforts across divisions [1][3][4].

In the specific areas of letter and package delivery, the Group's divisions showed impressive results despite facing various challenges.

Post & Parcel Germany saw a decline in shipment volumes but achieved EBIT growth of 28% due to parcel growth, yield measures, and cost improvements [3]. This growth offset the structural shift from mail to parcels.

DHL eCommerce faced a decrease in shipments per day, particularly a 20% drop in B2C shipments [3][5]. However, the division managed this decline with cost actions and price discipline, enabling it to maintain stable gross profit per unit.

DHL Express saw a slight decrease in revenue by 1.9%, but the division was part of the overall profitable growth narrative, helped by yield management and cost efficiencies [1][3].

Despite some volume softness linked to global economic uncertainties, DHL's strategic focus on cost efficiency, pricing, and digital transformation has enabled profit improvements in its letters and packages business during the first half of 2025 [1][3][4].
