The collaboration, sealed with a Memorandum of Understanding, will create a scalable and secure marketplace for digital payments. This new system will empower merchants, shippers, exporters, importers, and online marketplaces to settle payments faster and at lower costs. DP World's Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, sees this as a commitment to driving innovation in digital trade.
PayPal President and CEO Alex Chriss shares this enthusiasm, viewing the initiative as a significant step forward for global commerce. The goal is to slash cross-border payment processing times from days to mere minutes, enhancing efficiency and transparency.
DP World and PayPal's digital payment initiative, scheduled for 2024, promises to transform international trade. By expediting and reducing the cost of global payments, the system will strengthen Dubai's position as a leading trade hub, benefiting all parties involved in global commerce.
