Dick's Bolsters Foot Locker's Executive Team; At Home Expands Real Simple, Retail Hiring Slows
Dick's Sporting Goods is bolstering the executive team of Foot Locker following their recent merger. Meanwhile, At Home is expanding its Real Simple collection, and retailers are expected to hire fewer seasonal workers this quarter. Muji is venturing into the beauty sector, while Spirit Halloween has partnered with Scrub Daddy for unique costumes.
Dick's Sporting Goods is assembling a new executive team to lead Foot Locker after their merger earlier this month. The retailer has appointed Michelle Wang as chief merchant of both Foot Locker and Kids Foot Locker, a role she previously held as general manager of the latter. The new chief buyer of Foot Locker North America has not been publicly disclosed.
At Home, which filed for bankruptcy in August due to challenges like the pandemic and supply chain disruptions, is set to expand its Real Simple collection. On Nov. 1, more products such as waste bins and bath accessories will hit the shelves. This follows the initial launch of 270 products from the collection. The home decor retailer has closed stores in recent months, leaving it with a current footprint of 229 stores.
Retailers are expected to fill fewer than 500,000 seasonal positions in the final quarter of 2025, the smallest increase since 2009. This is a significant drop from the 700,000 seasonal jobs added in the same period last year.
Muji is making its debut in the beauty space with its new range, Booster. The collection features a serum and lotion made from 100% natural ingredients. Meanwhile, Spirit Halloween has teamed up with Scrub Daddy for limited edition Scrub Daddy and Scrub Mommy costumes.
