In a recent gathering, Energienetze Mittelrhein (enm), the network company of Energieversorgung Mittelrhein (evm), brought together all electrical installation companies under its concession. The event, organized by enm, aimed to ensure a smooth process for network connections and the successful implementation of the energy transition in the region.

Stefan Müller, evm's craftsman relationship manager, was present as the first point of contact for questions and suggestions. The event focused on discussing the power grid and the implementation of new laws and regulations.

Experts at the gathering highlighted innovations such as advanced battery energy storage systems for grid flexibility and sustainable renewable integration. These developments emphasize practical approaches like turnkey battery storage projects and enhanced materials for renewable infrastructure to support a stable and sustainable energy supply.

Key innovations include the deployment of large-scale battery storage systems, which improve grid stability and flexibility, critical for integrating variable renewable sources like wind and solar. Advanced materials in infrastructure components, such as cobalt-chromium alloys used in hydropower turbines, were also showcased. These materials extend equipment lifespan and maintain reliable renewable power supply, demonstrating the technological durability demands on craftsmen working with energy networks.

The event addressed challenges faced by energy network craftsmen, including balancing renewable expansion with grid stability, complex regulatory and construction hurdles for new infrastructure projects, and skilled workforce demands amid accelerating renewable deployment and evolving technology requirements.

With around 1,000 employees, evm is one of the largest employers in the region. Besides its extensive energy services, evm is also the operator of two waterworks and a wastewater treatment plant. In the field of renewable energies, evm is involved in numerous regional participation companies and nationwide via Thüga Erneuerbare Energien GmbH & Co. KG. evm is also active in the field of telecommunications through KEVAG Telekom GmbH.

The network business of the evm group has been transferred to an independent network company, Energienetze Mittelrhein GmbH & Co. KG, which ensures the safe and reliable operation of the power grid in 227 municipalities and the natural gas grid in 255 municipalities. The energy transition is a long-term process, according to enm's managing director, Hendrik Majewski, who emphasized the importance of engaging in dialogue with local electrical craftsmen to align the needs of the network operator and the craftsmen.

enm plans to offer more information and exchange events with the craftsmen in the future to maintain dialogue and foster continued innovation in the energy sector.

Other industries, such as finance and technology, can learn from the collaborative approach taken by Energienetze Mittelrhein (enm) and the electrical installation companies under its concession. By engaging in regular dialogue with key stakeholders, enm has effectively addressed challenges and promoted innovation in the energy transition process.

The success of turnkey battery storage projects and the use of advanced materials for renewable infrastructure within the energy sector demonstrate the importance of technological advancements in various other industries, including finance and technology.
