Headline: DKV Mobility Expands Service Network, Toyota Introduces GR Yaris Subscription, and RAM's Electric Strategy Shift
DKV Mobility, an international service card provider, has made a significant move by becoming the first to offer repair services for electric vehicles (EVs). This expansion of their network and range of workshop services will provide more options for EV owners across Europe.
Meanwhile, Turkish electric vehicle manufacturer Togg has collaborated with Microsoft Türkiye to develop Can.ai, an AI platform. Can.ai runs on Azure using OpenAI technologies, marking a significant step forward in the development of AI for the automotive industry.
In other news, Toyota's brand Kinto has expanded its car subscription service to include the compact GR Yaris. The GR Yaris, featuring the world's most powerful series-production three-cylinder engine, is now available for a monthly fee of 399 euros with a one-year term. Insurance, vehicle tax, registration, and maintenance work are included in the subscription.
German drivers, however, seem to have reservations about modern assistance systems. A survey revealed that only 39% of German drivers believe they can fully rely on these systems, while 41% have experienced occasional malfunctions. Furthermore, almost one in four German drivers feel more hindered than supported by these systems while driving.
In a surprising turn of events, RAM is no longer developing a full-electric version of the RAM 1500 pickup model. Instead, the company's electric strategy now centers around a variant with a combustion engine serving as a range extender, previously announced as the "Ramcharger." The primarily electrically powered pickup will henceforth be known as the RAM 1500 REV, with its delivery period in Europe starting in 2025.
Mazda is offering a "One Option Free" promotion on all models except the electric sedan 6e, running until September 27. DKV Mobility and Carglass have also agreed a partnership, allowing service and repair work to be obtained at all Carglass service centers in Germany using the DKV Card.
Lastly, the decision to stop the development of the BEV variant of the RAM 1500 pickup is attributed to waning demand for battery-electric full-size trucks in the United States. DKV Mobility currently offers access to around 36,000 vehicle service stations in Europe.
