Denon+ Introduces Subscription Service for Wireless Earbuds

Denon+, a renowned headphone manufacturer, has taken a bold step into the world of subscription services with its offering for the PerL and PerL Pro wireless earbuds. This unique service combines rental with guaranteed annual upgrades, setting it apart from many mainstream headphone brands.

The service charges a flat monthly fee instead of an up-front payment for the earbuds. For the PerL model, the monthly fee is $9.99, and for the PerL Pro model, it is $14.99. This fee includes loss protection, device refresh (a free upgrade every 12 months), and exclusive content such as members-only music content, giveaways, and special offers.

Interestingly, the subscription price is lower than the launch RRP of both earbud models. The subscription price for the PerL earbuds is $119 over a year, and for the PerL Pro earbuds, it is $179 over a year, making it an attractive option for those seeking regular upgrades without a hefty up-front cost.

It is worth noting that the service is currently available only to US customers. Missing a payment in the subscription service resets the Device Refresh clock to zero, and there is a fee for not returning the earbuds within 30 days after ending a subscription.

The PerL Pro wireless earbuds have received a full five-star review, and both earbud models have been on sale for a couple of years now. However, besides Denon+, few mainstream headphone manufacturers have launched similar subscription-based rental and upgrade programs specifically for consumer earbuds or headphones.

Other companies, such as CTL and Quiet Events, focus on enterprise/education leasing or event rental services rather than direct-to-consumer subscription upgrade plans like Denon+. This could potentially pave the way for other headphone makers to offer similar rental options, inspired by Denon+'s innovative approach.

As of now, it is not specified if the subscription service will become available in other countries in the future. Nevertheless, Denon+'s subscription service for its PerL and PerL Pro wireless earbuds presents an intriguing model for the future of headphone subscription services.
