DEIF & AVL Team Up for Green Transition with Innovative Power Converters
DEIF and AVL have joined forces to drive the green transition, both on land and at sea. They plan to unveil innovative product concepts at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg, Germany, from 3 to 6 September 2024.
The partnership aims to develop, market, and sell power converters using cutting-edge semiconductor technology. DEIF will manufacture these power stacks at its advanced electronics factory in Denmark. AVL's semiconductor technology, based on silicon carbide, ensures minimal heat loss in power stacks.
These power converters will be integral to low to zero-emission power generation on land and at sea, and propulsion systems on ships. DEIF will also develop control solutions for integrating the power stacks in various marine applications. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) aims for at least a 70% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, making such innovations crucial.
DEIF and AVL's collaboration seeks to accelerate the green transition, aligning with the Paris Agreement's goal to limit global temperature rise. Their innovative power converters, to be showcased at the SMM trade fair, are expected to play a significant role in achieving these climate targets.
