DB Audio Technology to Enhance Artistic Presentation at Berlin's Museum
News Article: "Soundscapes in the Garden" Brings Immersive Concert Experience to Berlin's Neue Nationalgalerie
From the 27th to the 30th of August, 2025, the Neue Nationalgalerie museum in Berlin will host a unique open-air concert series known as "Soundscapes in the Garden". This event will see internationally acclaimed musicians perform live, immersing visitors in a spatial and intense music experience as they wander among plants and sculptures[1][5].
The schedule for the four-day event is as follows:
- August 27 (Day 1): Loraine James and Blackhaine will take the stage.
- August 28 (Day 2): Hania Rani presents Chilling Bambino will perform.
- August 29 (Day 3): Limpe Fuchs and Pantha du Prince will entertain the audience.
- August 30 (Day 4): A special program titled "In dialogue with Fujiko Nakaya" will be held, focusing on the artist's fog sculpture and coinciding with the Long Night of Museums[1][5].
Curated by Gregor Quack in collaboration with Tessa Nijdam and the CTM Festival for Adventurous Music & Art, Berlin, this event is inspired by the clarity of Mies van der Rohe’s architecture and the ephemeral poetry of Fujiko Nakaya’s fog sculpture[1]. It emphasises music as a spatial art form.
The d&b Soundscape system will play a central role in this immersive experience, allowing artists to use sound as a creative, spatial tool. The system integrates two software modules: En-Scene and En-Space. En-Scene enables precise positioning and movement of sound sources, while En-Space provides real-time acoustic emulation[1].
Ralf Zuleeg, director of creative community at d&b audiotechnik, is returning to the Neue Nationalgalerie for this event, having been involved in a past event at the museum in 2015[1]. He is proud to offer tools and creativity to bring artists' visions to life.
The performances aim to explore new synergies between sculpture and sound, using spatial audio as a sculptural medium. Participating artists include Alva Noto, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Stephen O'Malley, Pantha du Prince, Hania Rani, Loraine James, Blackhaine, and Limpe Fuchs[1].
This series builds on the museum's Jazz in the Garden series from the 1970s and its 2022 revival, 'Sound in the Garden'. It is part of Berlin's Long Night of Museums and is supported by FREUNDE der Nationalgalerie e.V. and sponsored mainly by audibene GmbH[1].

Quack, the museum's director, stated that the garden at the Neue Nationalgalerie is a space to walk around in, not one to stay seated. He emphasized that d&b Soundscape allows for a personalized audio experience for each audience member, making the event an unforgettable experience for all[1].
Audio technology, namely the d&b Soundscape system, will play a crucial role in the immersive musical events at Berlin's Neue Nationalgalerie during the "Soundscapes in the Garden" series. This technology, which includes the En-Scene and En-Space software modules, allows artists to use sound as a creative, spatial tool in their performances. The goal is to create a unique entertainment experience where audio becomes a sculptural medium, emphasizing the spatial art form of music.
