CUbIQ Unveils Compact QKD Transceiver for HPE Juniper Switches at ECOC 2025

A groundbreaking Proof of Concept (PoC) was unveiled at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) 2025 in Copenhagen. The demonstration showcased a compact, integrated Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) transceiver developed by CUbIQ Technologies, designed to enhance the security of HPE's Juniper switches and routers.

The CV-QKD transceiver, presented in a compact QSFP28 form factor, can be seamlessly inserted into HPE's existing networking devices. This marks a significant departure from traditional QKD systems, which required large, dedicated 19-inch hardware. The PoC incorporates QKD technology directly into the transceiver, enabling quantum-safe MACsec encryption based on QKD key exchange.

The joint project aims to simplify and integrate QKD, making it more accessible and practical for widespread use. Market readiness of this integrated QKD solution is yet to be determined.

CUbIQ Technologies' CV-QKD transceiver, demonstrated at ECOC 2025, promises to revolutionise network security by enabling quantum-safe encryption in HPE's Juniper switches and routers. This compact, integrated approach brings QKD closer to mainstream adoption, though further development is needed to establish market readiness.
