Corporate Sentiment Shifts: Many Businesses Plan to Delete X Profiles

A significant shift in corporate sentiment towards Twitter, formerly known as X, has been revealed in a recent survey by Bitkom. The poll indicates a growing dissatisfaction among businesses, with many planning to delete their profiles and reduce their presence on the platform.

Eleven percent of companies surveyed have plans to delete their business profiles on Twitter within the next year, reflecting a level of dissatisfaction or concern. This decision is likely influenced by various factors, such as mistrust in the platform or perceived risks, although the specific reasons were not detailed in the available search results.

The change in leadership, with Elon Musk now at the helm, has also impacted businesses' usage of the platform. Fifty-eight percent of companies using Twitter are posting fewer contributions or have stopped posting altogether since Musk's takeover. Only 21 percent of companies find that Musk is strengthening freedom of expression, indicating a widespread lack of confidence in the new direction of the platform.

The survey also revealed a significant decrease in companies using Twitter for advertising. Fifty-one percent of companies are posting fewer or no paid ads on the platform, up from 26 percent in 2023. This reduction in advertising activity suggests a potential loss of revenue for the platform.

Reflecting these changes, only 27 percent of companies surveyed still use Twitter, down from 32 percent in October 2023. This decline in usage is accompanied by an increase in companies demanding stronger control of the platform, with 85 percent of all companies surveyed expressing this sentiment, up from 74 percent in 2023.

The Bitkom survey paints a clear picture of a corporate world that is increasingly disillusioned with Twitter. With a significant number of companies planning to delete their profiles, reducing their presence, and demanding stronger control, the future of Twitter as a business platform appears uncertain. These findings highlight the need for Twitter to address these concerns and rebuild trust with its corporate users.
