Conference Announcement: Cape Town Chosen as Host for Summit Leveraging Artificial Intelligence
The AI Empowered summit is set to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on August 7-8, 2025. This event, inspired by EO Cape Town and produced by One-eyed Jack, in partnership with CapeTalk, Daily Maverick, Invest Cape Town, the City of Cape Town, IAB, FNB, and other esteemed organisations, aims to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving inclusive economic growth, job creation, and problem-solving in local industries.
The summit brings together a diverse array of speakers, including business leaders, technologists, and creatives, to share their insights and practical applications of AI. Among the notable speakers are Roshan Jelal, FNB Head of Fraud Commercial, and Rahul Jain, Co-Founder of Peach Payments, who will discuss AI and fraud on a panel. Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem for Africa at Google, will present virtually, while Gaurav Devsarmah, Head of AI at Warp Development, will conduct a workshop.
Key topics to be addressed at the summit include deploying AI to solve societal and business challenges across multiple sectors, using AI for skill development and future-proofing jobs for youth, practical applications of AI in the SME ecosystem to foster growth, and AI’s role in enhancing industries like agriculture, education, fintech, healthcare, and logistics. The event will also delve into strategies for inclusive economic development accessible to all communities and unpack AI’s economic potential, with PwC estimating an injection of R129 billion into South Africa’s economy by 2030 thanks to AI.
Notable speakers from major corporations such as Microsoft, Google, Discovery, and FNB will be in attendance, reflecting the summit’s high-profile backing and expertise. Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth in Cape Town, will emphasize the power of AI to tackle pressing challenges and foster inclusive growth.
The AI Empowered summit is scheduled to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Invest Cape Town and the City of Cape Town are official host city partners for the summit, demonstrating their commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth in the city.
The event will also feature more than 40 speakers, with over 15 women speakers to champion diverse voices in innovation. Tickets for the event start at R3,600 for both days and are available at www.aiempowered.co.za. Corporate bookings packages are also available.
