Compact Electric Vehicle with Sporty Power: Skoda Elroq RS Showcases Speedy Performance
The Czech automaker Škoda has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the Elroq RS, a compact all-electric crossover that promises to deliver sporty performance with practical everyday usability.
The Elroq RS is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering 250 kW (335-340 bhp) and 679 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. This powerful setup propels the Elroq RS from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of approximately 180 km/h (111-112 mph).
Key specification highlights include a battery capacity of 84 kWh, supporting fast DC charging up to 175-185 kW for rapid charging (10 to 80% in 26 minutes). The Elroq RS boasts an electric range of up to 550 km (342 miles) WLTP, with the vRS variant offering around 339 miles.
The Elroq RS inherits many qualities from its larger sibling, the Enyaq, including a sophisticated interior, successful sound insulation, handling, and suspension. It also features a sports-tuned chassis, lowered by 10 mm front, 15 mm rear, with adaptive dampers having 15 stages of adjustment for enhanced handling.
The exterior of the Elroq RS is adorned with unique dark chrome roof rails and window trim, privacy glass, and acoustic side windows for comfort and style. It comes with 19-inch Regulus anthracite alloy wheels as standard on some trims, with optional 21-inch alloys available.
Safety and convenience tech features include travel assist plus including emergency assist, lane assist with narrow lane assist, urban evasive steering support, predictive adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, keyless entry with walk away locking, and electric child safety locks.
The interior of the Elroq RS offers wireless 15W phone charging with cooling, multiple USB-C ports with 45W charging and data, and enhanced interior noise suppression for comfort. It also features a 5-inch TFT display and a 13-inch central touchscreen.
Regarding price, specific figures for the Elroq RS have not been released yet, but it is positioned as a premium variant in the compact electric crossover segment, comparable to similarly equipped sporty electric SUVs in Škoda’s lineup.
The Elroq RS is a testament to Škoda's commitment to electric mobility, combining strong electric performance with practical crossover versatility, enhanced handling, and premium features.
