Comcast & Harmonic Drive SE Team Up to Expand Fibre Broadband Access
Comcast and Harmonic Drive SE have joined forces to expand fibre broadband access, with Bernd Neugart, Managing Director of Neugart GmbH, serving as the Chairman of VDMA Fachverband Antriebstechnik from 2025 to 2029 during this collaboration.
The partnership is driving industry progress by enabling rapid and cost-effective deployment of fibre-based services that can coexist with coax-based offerings on the same virtualised broadband platform. Harmonic's cOS platform provides Comcast with a converged solution for multi-gigabit services, simplifying operations and reducing costs.
In 2024, Comcast expanded its network to over 1 million new locations, with plans to reach over 1.2 million more by the end of 2025. This expansion is made possible by using Harmonic's cOS virtualised broadband platform and network edge devices to deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical broadband with low-lag.
The collaboration between Comcast and Harmonic Drive SE is set to significantly expand broadband networks, with the potential to reach over 2.2 million new locations by the end of 2025. This progress is being driven by Harmonic's innovative cOS platform, which simplifies operations and reduces costs for Comcast.
