Comcast Expands Xfinity WiFi Access in Florida by Introducing 261,000 Free Hotspots
Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall as one of the strongest hurricanes to hit west Florida in recent years, and Comcast is taking steps to help residents and emergency personnel stay connected during this critical time.
Comcast Senior Vice President, Florida Region, Jeff Buzzelli, has stated that the company wants to help those affected by Hurricane Milton stay connected. To achieve this, Comcast has opened more than 261,000 Xfinity WiFi Hotspots in areas it serves across Florida.
These hotspots are located both indoors and outdoors in places such as shopping districts, parks, and businesses. Xfinity WiFi Hotspots are accessible by selecting the "xfinitywifi" network on a device's list of available networks and launching a browser.
Xfinity Internet customers can sign in with their account credentials to access any nearby Xfinity WiFi hotspots in the future. Non-Xfinity Internet subscribers can access Xfinity WiFi Hotspots by agreeing to the Terms and Conditions in the "Get Connected" section. Non-subscribers can renew their complimentary sessions every two hours while the hotspots are open.
The purpose of opening the hotspots is to help residents and emergency personnel stay connected ahead of Hurricane Milton's landfall. Updates on Comcast's response to Hurricane Milton can be found at florida.comcast.com.
An alternative for Xfinity Internet subscribers to access Xfinity WiFi Hotspots is by downloading the Xfinity WiFi Hotspots app and signing in with their account credentials.
Comcast has also positioned crews and equipment to respond immediately in the event of network damage due to Hurricane Milton. The company encourages everyone to stay safe and informed during this time.
A map of public Xfinity WiFi hotspots can be found at xfinity.com/wifi. This resource can be useful for those seeking a connection during Hurricane Milton.
By providing these Xfinity WiFi Hotspots, Comcast aims to support Floridians during Hurricane Milton, offering a tool for both Xfinity customers and non-customers to stay connected.
