Church in Georgia Boosts Surveillance for Extensive Choir and Intricate Music Requirements

In the heart of Jonesboro, First Baptist Church has undergone a significant transformation in its audio system. The church has recently installed DiGiCo Quantum consoles, specifically the Quantum852, bringing about a noticeable improvement in performance.

The Quantum8 console, with its Mustard Processing channel strips, Spice Rack plugin-style native FPGA processing options, and Nodal Processing, has provided the church with a powerful and versatile tool for their audio needs. This console has enabled First Baptist Church of Jonesboro to more than double its inputs for special events, and the processing load has shifted to the Quantum8 console itself, with the console now doing about 80% of the processing compared to the SD10's 40%.

One of the most significant improvements reported by the church's audio staff is the enhanced audio quality and processing power. The sound quality has been improved with the Quantum consoles, with musicians noticing more space and depth to the sound. The addition of the Quantum3 at monitors has greatly improved the church's media workflow, making it easier to work on and manage.

The Quantum8 console was chosen due to the need for increased channel count and processing for the church's media evolution. The church currently has a 30 to 40-piece orchestra, an 80 to 100-voice choir, and shares worship music duties between a six-piece band and a 3,000-pipe organ. With the addition of more wireless microphones, a six-piece band with electric guitars and drums, and online streaming of services, the church required a console that could handle the increased demand.

The workflow has been enhanced for everyone with the Quantum consoles. With the Quantum3, all the patching can be done internally in the console, improving the workflow for monitors. The Waves processing that was previously on the SD10 consoles is now split between the A and B engines of the new Quantum8 console, providing a layer of failover protection.

First Baptist Church of Jonesboro is proud to be the world's first house of worship to install a Quantum8 console. The church's traditional worship style was expanded to include electrified instruments, backing tracks, and outside concerts. The church currently operates the audio at full 96k resolution, up from 48k before.

The church's online streaming services are now fully live, requiring additional channels. The addition of two more SD-Racks doubled the number of stage boxes, allowing up to 220 inputs at the stage. Both consoles were purchased through Atlanta-based integrator Clark.

The church's audio staff has expressed their appreciation for the advanced platform offered by the Quantum852 console. The enhanced audio quality, greater control and flexibility, reliable platform, and positive reception from the staff have made this upgrade a key factor in elevating their live sound mixing experience and audio delivery quality to the congregation.
