Kambi Group Aims for Nevada Licensing Amidst Ongoing Testing

Kambi Group, a leading B2B sports betting supplier based in Malta, is currently undergoing a field test at Bally's Lake Tahoe in Nevada. The testing is part of the company's GLI (Gaming Laboratories International) phase, with approximately 55% of the process completed as of now, according to Werner Becher, the CEO of Kambi Group.

Becher, who founded a software company in 2003 and has a background in the sports betting industry, expressed his confidence in Nevada's regulatory process. He referred to Nevada as the gold standard in the industry for licensing, due to its wealth of experience and knowledge in the field.

The Nevada Gaming Commission is scheduled to decide on Becher's application on Aug. 21st. The Nevada Gaming Control Board has recommended the CEO of Kambi Group for a gaming license in Nevada. However, no publicly available update or confirmation on Kambi Group’s gaming license application status with the Nevada Gaming Commission has been announced as of August 2025.

Despite the rigorous process, Becher believes that being licensed in Nevada is worth it due to having the gold standard on it. As CEO, Becher's main responsibilities include driving the global strategy for software development, trading, and risk management for customers.

Kambi Group provides a comprehensive software platform with a front-end user interface, odds compiling, customer intelligence, and risk management. The company serves more than 50 operators in over 60 jurisdictions, including 20 states in the U.S.

Becher mentioned an unexpected new reporting issue that needs to be fixed during the testing process. He also had to step down on other company boards he served on to become the CEO of Kambi Group. Becher served as CEO for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America for Sportradar between January 2021 and December 2022.

The testing is expected to be completed by the end of October, with more testing by the end of November, for submission to the Gaming Control Board for approval. If approved, Kambi Group would join the ranks of other licensed sports betting suppliers in Nevada.

It's important to note that Kambi Group holds licenses in other states, but the Nevada licensing status remains undisclosed in the provided sources. The company has a permanent gaming license issued and renewed in Indiana, with a permanent license issued as recently as September 15, 2023, and valid through at least September 15, 2024.

As the testing and regulatory process continue, Kambi Group looks forward to potentially expanding its footprint in the U.S. sports betting market, particularly in Nevada, the gold standard for licensing in the industry.
