Cellmore Collaborates with Cellnex UK to Amplify LoRaWAN Network Coverage
Cellnex UK and Netmore Group Strengthen Partnership for Large-Scale Smart Water Metering Project
Cellnex UK and Netmore Group have announced an expansion of their partnership, aiming to lower network delivery costs while maintaining top-tier connectivity services for customers. The collaboration focuses on delivering Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) coverage through the installation of LoRaWAN gateways on Cellnex UK's streetworks monopole infrastructure.
The partnership, initially focused on supporting Netmore's network buildout in the UK, was initiated after being selected by Yorkshire Water. The extensive infrastructure portfolio of Cellnex UK allows for the provision of connectivity exactly where it's needed, offering a cost-effective solution for Netmore to connect to a high volume of water meters.
The project, one of Europe's largest LoRaWAN water metering projects, involves exchanging 1.3 million water meters in the UK. The new installations support Netmore's Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) rollout for regional water utilities under the AMP8 regulatory framework. Following initial installations on 20 sites earlier this year, the companies have agreed to new installations on an additional 200 sites.
Paul Stonadge, the commercial director at Cellnex UK, stated that their sustainable asset-sharing approach facilitates the rollout of Netmore's technology, ensuring efficient wireless coverage and capacity. Dominic Murphy, the director of international network delivery at Netmore, expressed excitement about extending the partnership in this region and beyond.
The cost efficiencies provided by Cellnex UK enhance the speed and scale at which devices like smart water meters can be integrated into Netmore's network. The collaboration between the two companies continues to expand, with new installations registered in additional regions in Sweden, Finland, and Denmark to provide 200 more sites to support Netmore's network expansion phase in other countries.
The partnership is aimed at providing a cost-effective solution for Netmore to connect to a high volume of water meters, offering a significant step forward in the rollout of smart water metering infrastructure across the UK and Europe.
