The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa Unveils a Stunning Audio System
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa, Canada, has recently opened its doors, and with it, a state-of-the-art audio system that promises an immersive and high-quality audio experience. The system, designed by 1 SOUND, features the Cannon C6 marine speakers and Level L38 loudspeakers, providing a perfect blend of durability, sound immersion, and architectural integration.
Jason Wakeford, project manager at integrators Branch AV, praised the performance of the L38 loudspeakers, stating that they delivered great sound with room for higher SPL with bands. The speakers are not only aesthetically pleasing, being color-matched to the building, but also boast custom-painted C-Clamps, outdoor-rated hardware, and are built with SS316 marine-grade materials and sealed cable glands.
The Cannon C6 marine speakers, installed both inside and outside the venue, are known for their marine suitability and durability, with an IP55 rating making them highly reliable in outdoor or humid environments. The suspended pendant design allows for flexible placement, contributing to aesthetic integration without compromising sound quality.
Inside the venue, the Council Oak Stage was designed to host small bands, duelling pianos, and other live acts. For these performances, 1 SOUND's Level L38 loudspeakers were installed to provide flexibility and preserve the upscale restaurant feel on quieter nights. Each Level L38 loudspeaker stands less than eight inches off the wall, is matched precisely to the wall for a clean look, and is paired with a hidden SUB310 subwoofer in the ceiling to maintain the aesthetic.
Outside the venue, 25 Cannon C6 marine speakers provide quality sound in a small box for its output, ideal for music playback. The speakers are truly full range, offering even sound coverage for immersive audio experiences, ensuring guests can enjoy consistent sound quality anywhere in the space, including at the back bars or VIP cabanas.
Clair Global and Branch AV, a local AV firm, collaborated for the audio system integration. The system at the Hard Rock Ottawa had to perform at Hard Rock's global standards without overwhelming the space. 1 SOUND's products were chosen for the Hard Rock Ottawa project due to the designers already trusting the sonic clarity and visual design of its products.
