BYD Unveils High-End U8L Dingshi Edition Luxury SUV
BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced the upcoming launch of its new luxury SUV, the U8L Dingshi Edition. The vehicle will be showcased at a launch event taking place at 2:30 pm Beijing Time on July 31.
The U8L Dingshi Edition is a technologically advanced, high-performance luxury SUV that boasts an advanced hybrid powertrain and premium design features. It is larger than the standard U8, with a longer body, wheelbase, and overall dimensions.
Key Features and Specifications
The U8L Dingshi Edition measures 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, 1,921 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. It is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine combined with four electric motors, each producing 220 kW (295 hp), with a total system output of up to 880 kW (1,180 hp) and maximum torque of 1,280 Nm. This plug-in hybrid system supports a comprehensive range of around 1,000 km under the CLTC cycle.
The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h. Fast charging capability recharges the battery from 30% to 80% in about 18 minutes.
Built on BYD’s advanced e4 (Yisifang) platform and featuring the DiSus-P intelligent suspension system, the U8L Dingshi Edition offers capabilities such as all-terrain tank turns, tire blowout stabilization, and emergency flotation on water.

Executive second-row Zero Gravity seats with electric adjustment, calf rests, foldable tables, wireless charging, and entertainment screens are available, along with interior color themes in black/brown and purple/gray. The center console includes an embedded refrigerator with a temperature range from –6°C to 50°C, and plush 15mm natural wool carpets enhance cabin comfort.
The U8L Dingshi Edition is equipped with BYD’s "God’s Eye" DiPilot 600 driving assistance system, which enables advanced autonomous driving functions such as highway navigation, automatic parking assistance, and urban navigation. The e4 platform provides independent control of all four wheels, enabling advanced off-road capabilities.
