BYD Atto 1: Australia's Cheapest EV Coming in November 2025

BYD Australia is set to shake up the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of the Atto 1 in november 2024 calendar. This compact city hatch, dubbed 'Seagull' or 'Dolphin Surf' in other markets, is poised to become Australia's cheapest EV, potentially priced under $25,000 drive-away.

The Atto 1 will be offered in an entry-level variant, powered by a single electric motor delivering 55kW of power and 135Nm of torque. Despite its size, smaller than a Mazda 2, it promises impressive range. The BYD Blade LFP battery comes in two capacities: 30.08kWh and 38.88kWh, providing 220km and 321km of range respectively. This addresses a key concern for EV buyers, with 60% citing range as a main issue in a AAA poll. The Atto 1 undercuts the current cheapest EV in Australia, the BYD Dolphin Essential, priced at $29,990 drive-away. BYD Australia's chief operating officer has confirmed the Atto 1 will be Australia's most affordable EV by some margin. The launch in november 2024 calendar will also include the luxury Denza B5 and B8, and the Atto 2, which is the size of a Kia EV6.

The BYD Atto 1 is set to revolutionize the Australian EV market with its affordability and range. Its launch in november 2024 calendar, alongside other BYD models, is highly anticipated. With its competitive pricing and impressive specifications, the Atto 1 is poised to attract a wide range of buyers, making electric vehicles more accessible than ever.
