Businesswoman Huong Hung Faces Serious Charges for Alleged Tax Evasion

A 38-year-old businesswoman from Phú Thọ Province, Hoàng Thị Hường, known as Hoàng Hường, faces serious charges. The Ministry of Public Security has launched criminal proceedings against her for violating accounting regulations with significant consequences.

Hường, who gained fame through livestreaming to sell products online, is accused of intuitively reporting value-added tax (VAT) turnover. She allegedly underreported around VNĐ2.1 trillion ($79.3 million) in VAT turnover during a specific period. Additionally, from January 2021 to June 2025, she failed to record nearly VNĐ1.8 trillion ($67.97 million) in business revenue.

Investigators claim that Hường instructed employees to declare revenue under the names of many household businesses and individuals to evade taxes. This alleged scheme helped her to avoid paying the correct amount of tax. The investigation into the case is ongoing and being expanded, with five other suspects also prosecuted on the same charge.

Hoàng Hường's actions, if proven, could have significant implications for the tax system and other businesses in the region. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of her alleged activities and bring those responsible to justice.
